THE GREENVILLE HAIR BAR STORY...

Growing up, Amy Elder thought of Carrick Jones as another older brother. As her brother’s best friend, Carrick was around a lot. He joined the family for countless sleep overs, lake trips, and vacations. He and Amy always shared a special bond.

Over 20 years later, Amy and Carrick’s bond resulted in what would become one of Greenville’s top salons – one that is consistently nominated for Best of the Upstate.

The story of The Greenville Hair Bar started in early 2020 while Amy was giving Carrick a haircut. Carrick’s tenants had just moved out of the property he owned at 23 Cleveland Street, and they started talking about opening a salon in the space. By April, that idea had become a reality. They built out the space during the COVID-19 lockdown – and when restrictions were lifted, they were ready.

• The Greenville Hair Bar opened its door in June 2020 with five stylists.
• By December 2020, they had grown to fill all existing chairs.
• Expansion plans were announced at the one year anniversary in June 2021.
• Construction was completed in February 2022 that doubled the salon’s square footage
  and number of chairs.
• By June 2022, all the new open chairs had been filled.

Today, Amy and Carrick remain dedicated to making The Greenville Hair Bar a community where anyone is welcome and made to feel beautiful, accepted, and confident.  “Together, we’ve created a place where people care about each other as more than just colleagues. We’re a family.”
